The new entry-level Mercedes-Benz CLA represents a big departure for the automaker as it turns its attention to younger buyers.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is quite an unusual thing for the German automaker. For starters, it’s front-wheel-drive as opposed to those larger rear-wheel-drive sedans. With a transversely-mounted four-cylinder engine under the hood, the CLA has a base price just south of $30,000. For that money, one could buy a nicely equipped Ford Fusion. So what’s up with Mercedes’ latest product strategy? It’s called "affordable luxury", but perhaps the bigger question is whether the CLA can be considered a legit Mercedes?
Tune into this official test drive by Motor Trend’s Frank Markus as he heads to Saint Tropez to get behind the wheel of the youth-oriented CLA.
