The Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant in Germany has been in operation since 1915 and has built the 22 millionth vehicle since it started keeping records in 1946.

The landmark car is an EQS 580 4MATIC in Manufaktur Hyacinth Red Metallic paint. Sindelfingen also produces all variants of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. However, Mercedes is particularly proud of how quickly different models and drive variants were integrated into the running line without too much disruption. Deliveries of the S-Class rose to over 90,000 units in 2022, an increase of 5% over 2021. Mercedes produced 19,200 EQS models in 2022.

"I congratulate my colleagues in Sindelfingen on the impressive production anniversary of 22 million vehicles. Flexible, digital, efficient, and sustainable: Sindelfingen is and remains our center of excellence for luxury class vehicles in the global production network," said Jorg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Production and Supply Chain Management. "Sindelfingen has an impressive history while at the same time being ideally positioned for the future: The lead plant in the Top-End luxury segment will produce models using the electric AMG.EA platform from 2025 onwards."

Factory 56 is the jewel in the crown of the Sindelfingen plant and is considered a blueprint for how Mercedes-Benz will build cars in the near future.

The site currently employs around 35,000 people and encompasses all areas related to vehicle production, including planning areas, central purchasing, and supplier management. It's also home to group research, development, and design of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and the Technology Center Vehicle Safety (TFS) - one of the world's most modern crash test centers, which opened in 2016.

The Mercedes-Benz Customer Center Sindelfingen is next to the complex, and from there, customers can pick up their ordered vehicles and book factory tours.
