Mercedes wants in on the craze of blending four-door coupe styling with SUV utility, unveiling the Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. Following the BMW X6 and the Acura ZDX, the Silver Star's latest concept is an imposing proposition, standing 16 feet long and over six feet wide. Chrome mesh dominates the front end, centered by the three-pointed star, sharp creases adorn the hood, while the SUV sits on a set of 22-inch alloys.

Designers have a hard time applying the sporty, graceful lines of a four-door coupe to SUV proportions, and the Concept Coupe SUV is no different. It's awkward profile sweeps down to a back end featuring strips of lights that wrap around the rear and some flat oval exhausts aiding its squat stance. Power comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 333 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque mated to Benz' 9G-Tronic automatic and sent to all four wheels. No photos or information about the interior were forthcoming. As with other recent Mercedes concepts, the Concept Coupe SUV is strongly tipped to transform into a SUV offroader in the not-so-distant future.
