We hope it doesn't look anything like this 2000 concept.
In 2000, Mercedes-Benz introduced the Vision SLA baby-roadster concept at the Detroit Auto Show. A revolutionary design for its time, the little convertible never made it in to production. But with its new MGA platform serving as basis architecture for the A-Class, CLA, GLA, B-Class and the CLA Shooting Brake, and while officials at Daimler have said that this platform will be limited to those five models, some rumors say Mercedes will extend the family to include an SLA roadster.
A final decision isn't expected to be made for at least a few months, and surely a 2015 and upwards SLA would have little to do with a 15 year old concept. And that's not a bad thing, because - thankfully - the future has gone in a slightly different direction than Mercedes designers expected it would back in 2000. With a fresh design and the MGA platform as its base, a baby roadster with a three-point star could be pretty awesome.
