Although oil prices are still high and the recession is still live and biting, at least in the UK, automakers, Germans amongst them, are still looking how to satisfy cars enthusiasts and not only driving potatoes. For that aim Mercedes-Benz is planning production of two sports cars. It's still unofficial, though company execs indicate that a 'baby' SLS AMG sports model is on its way. That model, without the gullwing styled doors, will compete against the likes of Porsche 911 and possibly Jaguar F-Type when and if it gets produced.

According to Gorden Wagner, Mercedes Design Head, the car will be named SLC and it might be offered with two engines, a 3.5-liter V6 and a 4.0-liter V8. Another car Wagner told Auto Express magazine that Mercedes is considering, is a sportier version of is the M-Class, which will compete against the BMW X6. If rumors are to be believed the SLC could hit showrooms by 2014, so expect to see spy shots by the end of the year. Photos displayed are of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe.
