AMG EQE SUV

Mercedes-Benz recently released pricing for its flagship electric SUV, the EQS SUV. It starts at $104,400, and goes up to $132,200. If that is a bit outside your price range, we have some good news. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, a smaller and less expensive model positioned below the EQS SUV, will make its official debut next month on October 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. EST. This model will share many of the same features as the EQE Sedan, but bundle them in a taller SUV package.

Though it's rather unlike Mercedes to reveal everything all at once, the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV will also appear on October 16. Full specifications aren't available yet, but we can make some early guesses.

The standard EQE SUV will come in single motor or dual motor configurations with rear- or all-wheel-drive. CarBuzz anticipates the SUV will share the same power outputs as the sedan, meaning the rear-drive EQE 350 model will produce 288 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque from its rear-mounted motor. As of this writing, there is no information regarding a non-AMG EQE with 4Matic AWD.

As for the AMG variant, it uses "two powerful electric motors and fully variable all-wheel-drive." We assume this variant will produce the same output at the AMG EQE, which will also be called the AMG EQE 53 in other markets.

If our assumption is correct, you can expect up to 677 hp and 738 lb-ft (using Launch Mode) or 617 hp and 701 lb-ft under normal circumstances. Europeans will also be able to purchase a less powerful AMG EQE 43 model that won't be sold in the US.

In addition to the massive electric power, the AMG department will upgrade the EQE SUV's handling and performance. The AMG variant will include rear-axle steering as standard, the AMG Sound Experience via the speakers, and unique styling such as a special grille and wheels.

Inside, both models should look pretty similar, with the AMG likely getting more aggressive seats. A teaser image shows the massive MBUX curved Hyperscreen, which features three individual screens under one large piece of glass.

Based on previous spy shots, the EQE SUV will retain a similar shape as the EQS SUV but will be a bit smaller. We've even spotted the vehicle wearing no camouflage, showing off some wacky colors like orange and yellow. Mercedes rarely debuts new cars in bright hues, so it will be interesting to see if the orange and yellow turn up as launch colors. All will be revealed in less than one month.
