Mercedes is preparing to facelift the GL-Class for 2015, as the SUV is due a mid-cycle refresh. While there'll be a new front bumper design, new headlights, restyled grille and new hood, the most significant change will be to its name. The facelifted GL will be marketed as the GLS, as part of the carmaker's new nomenclature system, while a Maybach variant is also expected to arrive further down the line. As well as getting a new front end, the 2015 GLS will receive a new rear bumper and exhaust pipes, as well as new taillight graphics.

Inside, the 8-inch Comand tablet will be fitted along with a less cluttered center console. The engine lineup will carry over without significant changes, while some new powerplants from the recently revealed GLE Coupe could also be offered with the GLS. Expect a reveal next year at a major motor show.
