Ever since BMW switched from the formula of small, light, and sporty, the world has eagerly awaited the M2. It has the dimensions of an E46 M3 and packs a 365-horsepower punch via a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine. But there is a little-known competitor that may have some even more impressive performance metrics. The Mercedes A45 AMG has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger, but despite the engine's size handicap it makes 376 horsepower. This means that the Mercedes packs 188 horsepower per liter to the BMW's 121.6.

Can the high tech engineering of the Mercedes beat the M2's legend? Watch below and find out.
