First spy shots of 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe have arrived.
The new S-Class Coupe has been spied in prototype form and lit up the Frankfurt Motor Show while in concept guise. Now the high-performance AMG variant has made an appearance as Mercedes prepares to put both it and the regular S Coupe into production next year. Giving the prototype S-Class away as an AMG model are enlarged front air intakes, massive brakes enclosed in AMG-style rims and the familiar quad exhaust. The recently unveiled S63 AMG sedan’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 will also power the coupe.
With 585 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 49 hp and 74 lb-ft), this is the most potent AMG M157 unit to date and probably the last time it will feature. Like the sedan, expect the new S63 Coupe to manage 0-62 mph in four seconds and an unlimited top speed of over 186 mph. In the US, thrust will be sent exclusively to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic, while other markets will get a rear-wheel-drive option.
