Mercedes Ready to Pop the Top Off the S-Class

Spy Shots

Could this make a surprise appearance at the Paris Motor Show?

Ever since the W111-generation “Fintail” S went out of production in 1971, Mercedes hasn’t built a drop-top variant of the S-Class. These latest spy shots of an S-Class Cabrio proves that’s about to change, with the new convertible to sport a fabric soft top as opposed to a folding had top. Based on the new S Coupe, the S Cabrio will come powered by the same engine lineup as the S Coupe unveiled in Geneva, including an S500 Convertible motivated by a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 and an S63 AMG variant further down the line.
