Mercedes-Benz was one of the first automakers to offer a mobile app that lets users view and control various vehicle functions on their smartphone, from activating remote start to the navigation system. It's called the 'Mercedes me' app, which first launched in 2015. Now, Mercedes has released a new generation of me mobile apps with more advanced features, just in time for the upcoming launch of the new 2021 Mercedes S-Class.

Available to download from Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store are three Mercedes me Apps: the me App, Store App, and Service App, which Mercedes says were developed in close collaboration with partners and customers. The new apps are compatible with Mercedes models from the 2019 model year and beyond and will be available in 40 markets by the end of the year.

The Mercedes me App connects the smartphone with the owner's vehicle and can display key information such as the mileage, remaining range, and tire pressure. Users can also use the app to enable the stationary heater and operate the soft top or side windows remotely, while a new feature flashes the headlights to make it easier for the owner to locate the car in a dark parking lot.

Accessing the Mercedes me Store App provides easy access to digital Mercedes products, providing an overview of the Mercedes me connect services and on-demand features that are being used. These subscriptions can be extended using the Store App. The Mercedes me Service App can be used to remind owners of service appointments or maintenance work. It also displays active warning lamps and suggests routine maintenance checks such as checking the tire pressure at the next filling station.

Conveniently, the smartphone app can be used to directly book service appointments at a local dealer. It also offers "practical how-to videos with interesting information on ideal use of the vehicle."

"The new generation of Mercedes me Apps makes it even easier for our customers to contact Mercedes-Benz around the clock. They can book a service appointment at their preferred dealership or send their next travel destination directly to their car by app, for example," said Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, responsible for Sales. "We are always focused on making life easier for our customers. We are continually broadening our range of digital services to this end. The new Mercedes me App generation provides even simpler and intuitive access to our products and new services, such as a function for conveniently opening or closing windows or the panoramic roof by app."
