Luxury crossover to receive hybrid drivetrain in 2015.
For those that haven’t been keeping up, Mercedes will soon be changing the name of the M-Class to the GLE-Class. But that’s not the only thing that will change. Following the S- and C-Class models, the carmaker appears intent on expanding its range of plug-in hybrids with the luxury crossover the next in line to get a new powerplant. Like its siblings, the facelifted M-Class will have a charging port in the rear bumper, while the drivetrain will likely ape the 208-hp 2.0-liter four and 80-hp electric motor in the C-Class PHEV.
Mercedes will also make some minor cosmetic tweaks to the M, with head- and taillights expected to be revised, and the exhaust layout modified. The complete raft of changes will likely be revealed sometime in 2015.
