Mercedes SLS AMG Falls Off Ship During Delivery

Declared a write-off after five days adrift at sea.

It may have happened back in June 2013, but only now have images come to light of the brand-new Mercedes SLS AMG that fell off a transporter ship during delivery. The supercar was in transit between Germany and Argentina, where a man who had paid $710,000 for his dream ride (ordered in white) was left devastated after being informed it had fallen from the cargo ship into the waters of Rio de la Plata near Buenos Aires.

Contained in one of three containers that fell off the ship, it took five days for the SLS AMG to be rescued. Though the engine fired up, damage to the electrical systems meant the car was declared a total loss. It was subsequently sent back to Germany to be dismantled.
