New details come to light about next-gen Mercedes C-Class.
We have a pretty good idea of what to expect of the new C-Class thanks to shots of prototypes spied over the past few months. And there’s only a short time to wait until the W205 C-Class has its public debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January. In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with this first teaser video of a car Mercedes describes as having a lightweight bodyshell and an interior with high-class ambience and new touchpad control surface.
The C Sedan will be the first model rolled out, but the fifth-gen C Class range will also include a liftback model by 2015.
Longer, wider, and lighter than the outgoing C-Class, styling will be heavily influenced by the latest S-Class with a sport grille in line with the recently facelifted E-Class. Mercedes has given the interior a serious going over fitting the largest display monitor in its class, intuitive touchpad controls, and high-class trim. Engine options will include a selection of improved and brand-new from four, six and eight cylinder units as well as hybrids, all rear-wheel drive and mated to six-speed manual and nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmissions.
