A week ahead of its public unveiling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Mexico's VUHL 05 has been revealed to a select audience, including Sir Stirling Moss, at the Royal Automobile Club in London. Built in the mold of the Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow and BAC Mono, the VUHL 05 is the brainchild of car designers Guillermo and Iker Echeverria whose father spent his life building and racing his own cars as a professional driver. Weighing just 695 kg, the VUHL 05 pairs an aluminum chassis to a chrome-moly steel subframe and a body made of RTM reinforced plastic or carbon fiber.

Aero parts include a flat underbody, front and lateral splitters, and rear diffuser and spoiler. Power, which is sent to the tarmac via a six-speed manual, comes from Ford's 2.0-liter turbo EcoBoost engine rated at 285 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. This translates to a 3.7-second 0-62 mph time and top speed of 153 mph. Steering is by a high ratio rack and pinion system, there's a double wishbone suspension, four-pot alloy calipers all round and wheels are by OZ, staggered 17/18 inches front/rear. The interior can be specified with suede trim, carbon bucket seats, a quick-release suede-wrapped steering wheel and a digital dash. The two-seater track toy is priced from $106,000 and can be ordered now.
