If you live in the UK, it's impossible to avoid media coverage of the Royal Wedding right now. Even the auto industry is taking advantage of the publicity. What you're looking at here is a special one-off Mini Cooper S created to commemorate Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle's wedding later this month. Of course, it had to be something quintessentially British, so a Mini is an obvious choice. The unique Mini is finished in Crystal White with silver-blue accents to distinguish it.
Elsewhere, the black band that wraps around the hatchback features a blue-tinted matt silver paint finish. Chrome features such as the grille's frame, door handles, and light surrounds are topped off with a blue-black tinted clear coat. Other unique details include rear lights in a Union Jack design, and dark-blue matt metallic wheel rims. To make the car feel more personal, Mini also added 3D-printed side scuttles around the side turn signals that feature the initials M and H with a heart and rings and a "Just Married" message that projects on the ground when the doors open. The most striking exterior feature, however, has to be the roof graphic, which was applied meticulously by hand in several layers.
It was inspired by the Union Jack and the Stars & Stripes to represent the couple's nationalities. Inside, the one-off Mini features a personalized interior with Satellite Grey leather upholstery, while chrome elements have been highlighted with a blue-black tinted clear coat. Mini has also added a large trim strip ahead of the front passenger seat showing the first names of the bride and groom, the wedding date and good wishes to the newlyweds. "As an iconic British brand with almost 60 years of history in the UK, we are pleased to mark the royal wedding with this special charitable gift," said Mini design chief Oliver Heilmer.
"The Mini Design team has created a one-off Mini Hatch for the occasion. Its specially designed roof graphic combines with 3D-printed personalized interior and exterior details as well as special embroidery to make this a Mini like no other." The unique Mini won't be used as a wedding car to drive the bride and groom off into the sunset, however. Instead, the royal hatchback will be donated to the Children's HIV Association after the wedding on May 19, which will then sell it at an auction.
