Paying homage to the 1969 classic, "The Italian Job", MINI has unveiled a short London 2012-themed film that features Olympic legends such as Daley Thompson and Matthew Pinsent, as well as racing-driver, model and car fan, Jodie Kidd. Lead director of Top Gear Phil Churchward directed the action-packed video short that includes red, white, and blue London 2012 special edition MINIs performing stunts in and around some of the capital's most iconic landmarks.

References to the original movie include the MINIs emerging from the same Park Lane basement Michael Caine picked up his Aston Martin DB4 from, driving down the Duke of York Steps off the Mall and a chase through Leadenhall market.

The climax of the movie is a stunt involving the three MINIs performing a ten-meter jump in close formation in front of the Olympic Stadium. James Cracknell, British rowing champion and double Olympic gold medalist, said; "It was great fun making this film and London makes such a brilliant setting for an action sequence like this. Seeing London begin its transformation for the summer Games and feeling the excitement building is tremendous."
