Mitsubishi Has A Cure For Coronavius In Cars

It's 99.9% effective.

Aside from the reveal of the 2022 Eclipse Cross, Mitsubishi has mostly been in the news lately for rumors surrounding its sale by the Renault-Nissan alliance. While that story continues to unravel, Mitsubishi has an exciting new announcement that impacts the entire automotive industry. The Japanese automaker announced that its Diamond Premium Care product, a non-abrasive, antimicrobial, no-contact disinfecting and deodorizing spray for vehicle interiors and HVAC systems, was approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus, otherwise known as coronavirus.

"Diamond Premium Care is a rare tool in the fight against Covid-19. It offers peace of mind to the driver of any vehicle, but it's especially valuable to those with added exposure, whether that comes from regularly sharing their vehicle with others or from the direct risk of on-the-job exposure to Covid-19," said Mitsubishi Motors North America Vice President of Aftersales, Scott Smith. "MMNA and our dealer partners are proud to be able to offer this first-of-its-kind, EPA-approved service to everyone during these challenging times."

Diamond Premium Care can eliminate 99.9% of viruses and bacteria found in a car's interior or circulating through the HVAC systems. It also carries the added benefit of removing odors at the source without any abrasive chemicals like bleach. Mitsubishi directly sprays the dye-free treatment to vehicle surfaces, while the HVAC application is applied through the outdoor air intake vent. The process takes just 10 minutes for a standard-sized vehicle.

Mitsubishi Motors says it is the first and only OEM offering this type of service on a national scale. What's more, the service is available to all makes and models, ranging from a 2021 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross up to a Bentley or Ferrari. Mazda offered a similar program to help healthcare workers, and Ford came up with a clever idea to heat the interiors on Police Interceptors to kill any viruses inside. In the fight against Covid-19, these innovative solutions from automakers are a huge help.
