This is the brand new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X created to mark 40 years in the UK. Dubbed the Mitsubishi FQ-400, as the name suggests, its 2.0-liter turbo-four has been tuned to deliver 440 hp and 412 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the tarmac via a six-speed dual-clutch auto. The mighty FQ four-pot manages to produce such outrageous numbers thanks to a remapped ECU, tubular Janspeed exhaust manifold, bigger HKS turbo and Janspeed intake and intercooler piping kit.

Keeping all that power in check is a lowered suspension (35 mm up front, 20 mm at the rear), Eibach coil springs, Alcon brakes with six-piston calipers up front, and new 18-inch BBS alloys. Other exterior mods include bi-xenon headlights, front fog lamps and motorsport silicone windscreen wipers. Inside, drivers will be kept nice and snug in Recarro leather bucket seats, be entertained by a Rockford Fosgate eight-speaker sound system and a sat-nav with 7-inch touchscreen, and throw the car around using a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel.

Available exclusively in Frost White and limited to the UK market, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR special edition has been priced at £50,000 with only 40 units slated for production. Be warned though – Mitsubishi will be fitting a data recorder to the FQ-440 MR specials. Logging things such as driving style, performance, location and vehicle diagnostics, Mitsubishi will void the factory warranty if you drive it like a maniac.
