The first production Viper will be auctioned off to benefit pediatric cancer research and care.

Last week's reveal of the redesigned SRT Viper was some of the most exciting news we've had over the past few weeks. Judging by everyone's comments and its overall reaction from the floor of the New York Auto Show, the 2013 Viper is a phenomenal hit. Besides its wonderful 8.4-liter V10 engine, everyone seemed to love the exterior design from SRT head Ralph Gilles and his team. The automaker has just released this video discussing the design process.

They basically combined elements of old and new when crafting the car and that it was vital to make it instantly recognizable as a Viper. We think their efforts have paid off and the result is simply stunning.

And now Chrysler has also just announced that the first production Viper will be auctioned off to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. Set to take place at the Barrett-Jackson Orange County auction this June 22 - 24, it's expected this special Viper will go for an amount significantly higher than its estimated $100,000 MSRP. Dr. Jim Osborn, co-founder of the foundation, stated that "we are...very excited that the first production Viper be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson (will) benefit the many families faced with pediatric cancer. We just can't thank Mr. Gilles and his team enough." First class move all the way, Chrysler.
