On Motor Trend's latest episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago takes a look at the BMW M5 with a manual transmission to ascertain whether the six-speed stick shift is the better choice for enthusiasts over the dual-clutch gearbox. BMW only fitted the manual after the purists demanded it. What's puzzling about this is not only why the quicker-shifting and more sophisticated twin-clutch is in some way inferior to the manual, but why a purist would want to drive a heavy luxury sedan in the first place.

Essentially designed for the dual-clutch transmission, it stands to reason that the M5 so equipped drives better than the retrofitted manual version. Check out the video review to see what Lago has to say on the subject, and let us know what you think: manual or dual-clutch automatic for BMW's flagship performance sedan?
