It's big, heavy, and has an outdated RWD platform. And yet the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has just scored a major win as Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car for 2014. Don't think this is a big deal? Its competition included the Porsche 911 Turbo, Alfa Rome 4C, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, and the BMW M4. But America won the gold with this one, and deservingly so. It has a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a six-speed manual.

MT states the transformation from "muscle car that handles pretty well to Best Driver's Car winner is astounding." The Z/28 is truly world-class thanks in part to superior chassis and suspension tuning. It underwent extensive development testing at the Nurburgring as well. See the Z/28 in action at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca here.
