Move Over McLaren: Lister Teases £2m 7.8-Liter V12 Hypercar

Low-volume supercar to pack 1,000 hp and hit 250 mph.

It’s taken the best part of 25 years to get its act together, but British carmaker Lister is set to make a spectacular return with a £2m 7.8-Liter V12 hypercar designed to take on the likes of the McLaren P1, Koenigsegg Agera, Ferrari LaFerrari and Pagani Huayra. Lead by Lawrence Whittaker, the Cambridge-based company aims to build a “world-beating” supercar and is looking for investors to help make that happen. Speaking with Auto Express, Whittaker revealed plans to use a 7.8-liter supercharged V12 delivering 1,000 hp and capable of 250 mph.

Having started building sports cars in the Fifties, the company was split up into three smaller companies in the Eighties. One of these was responsible for the Lister Storm that arrived in the early Nineties, and last year it was announced that the companies were being reunited under one roof. Combining a flamboyant design, British craftsmanship and its racing pedigree, Lister believes it has all the ingredients to create the ultimate hypercar. In the meantime, the company will continue to remanufacture the “Knobbly” Jaguar, nine of which have been built and sold for £350,000 a piece.
