Rowan Atkinson may be best known for playing the role of the bumbling buffoon Mr. Bean, but the respected actor is also a renowned gearhead. He famously owned one of 72 McLaren F1s that were made, which he managed to crash twice. The rare hypercar was subsequently sold off for a whopping $12.5 million. And now another vehicle from Rowan Atkinson's prized collection is looking for a new owner, though it's safe to say it won't fetch nearly as much as the F1. That's not to say it isn't rare or desirable, however.

Heading to auction next month is Rowan Atkinson's rare Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage Edition. Limited to only 400 examples, as the name suggests the Defender 90 Heritage was built to mark the end of an era when the iconic off-roader finished production in 2016. It's finished in a Grasmere Green paintwork, and features a white roof, unique grille and HUE 166 graphics in homage to the first pre-production Land Rover built in 1947. Atkinson took delivery of the Defender 90 Heritage Edition on November 28 2015 and has barely used it since – it's only covered 2,260 miles, so it's still practically fresh from the factory.

Since Atkinson has a distinguished taste in cars, the limited-edition Defender was equipped with an updated sound system, mudflaps, a tow bar, a bespoke dog guard, and rubber over mats. When it was new, the Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage Edition would set you back 27,800 GBP ($35,428), but Silverstone Auctions estimates that this model will fetch between 38,000 GBP ($48,427) and 45,000 GBP ($57,348). Hardly surprising, considering its rarity and celebrity connection. "Silverstone Auctions are very proud to offer this car with such a distinguished pedigree and which, in our opinion, represents the very best of a great British tradition," Silverstone Auctions', Nick Whale said.

Never has there been a car that has so captured the imagination of the world. This distinctive limited edition is sure to be highly sought-after, offering buyers and collectors a slice of exclusive Land Rover history, and, with celebrity ownership by the hugely successful and admired Mr. Rowan Atkinson, this particular car has even more added appeal."
