And that's that "something else."
For some days now, we've been talking about Elon Musk's mysterious Tweet, promising a big day on October 9. Musk wrote: "About time to unveil the D and something else." After finding out that the "D" was in fact just a new, all-wheel drive variant of the existing Model S – expected to be dubbed the P85D – Musk has now confirmed what the company's "something else" is going to be. Speaking to CNNMoney the other day, Musk said that Tesla's system should be "90 percent capable of autopilot."
Using the combination of sensors, cameras and image recognition that we've come to expect from these systems, Musk says "90 percent of your miles can be on auto. For sure highway travel." The system is expected to launch as early as next year, but Musk didn't specify which model it would be offered on.
