Ford's dragstrip-ready Mustang is back for 2014 with a limited 50-unit production run.
The Ford Mustang Cobra Jet is back and ready to hit the dragstrip once again in 2014. It's similar to last year's model, but Ford has nonetheless made some notable changes to its latest off-the-line hell-raiser, of which just 50 units are scheduled to be made. This year's list of changes includes a new three-speed transmission and parachute mount along with two new colors: Gotta Have-it Green and an exclusive Cobra Jet flat black. Power still comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter V8.
Other appointments include a full rollcage, race-tuned suspension, FIA-approved Recaro race seats and some massive tires. Each car also has a unique serial number for future collectability. Interested in being one of the 50 lucky future owners? If so, you'll need to head over to your local Ford dealership with $97,990 on hand (optional paint and graphics cost extra) when orders begin next month on a first-come, first-served basis. Production is set to begin in July.
