NASCAR Legend Honored With Customized Dodge Challenger

Richard Petty was honored recently in North Carolina with his own customized Dodge Challenger. The NASCAR legend took a break from his hectic schedule on May 28 to accept his newly customized Challenger while hosting his Spring Fling Car Show. The event was sponsored by the Automotive Lift Institute to pay tribute to one of NASCAR's greatest drivers of all time.

The Challenger was designed by artist Mickey Harris, who spent over 156 hours detailing Richard Petty's racing career on the car. American tuner Pfaff Designs also had a hand in the customization process as well. The finishing touches came when Richard Petty himself signed the car's odometer. As usual, he was wearing his signature hat and crocodile-skin boots, which matched the car's Katzkin leather interior. The plate reads "200 WINS". Petty, known as "The King" to his fans, has won the NASCAR Championship seven times, with only fellow legend Dale Earnhardt able to match him.

Petty also won a record of 200 races during his illustrious career including the Daytona 500 a record seven times. The customized Challenger will be used to promote vehicle-lift safety after it leaves North Carolina. The car will eventually find its way to the Richard Petty Museum in Randleman, North Carolina to sit on display for fans to enjoy.
