Late last week, the Jaguar F-Type-based Lister Thunder was revealed and it's proven to be mighty poplar in the UK. The Lister Motor Company has now provided an update in that it received over 3 million GBP-worth of orders within the first 24 hours of sales. That translates into 22 of the 99 examples already spoken for in only one day. Can't say we're in the least bit surprised. For a price of 139,950 GBP each, the Thunder is described as the Cambridge-based company's most powerful and luxurious car it's built in its 65 years of existence.

The Thunder, as is necessary to be reminded, is more than just a coachbuild F-Type. Under its hood is the familiar 5.0-liter supercharged V8, only this time it's been tuned to deliver a naughty 666 hp and 719 lb-ft of torque. Lister claims a 0-62 mph time of 3.2 seconds, 0-100 in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph. Without question those are supercar specs and potential buyers responded in kind. Lister Motor Company CEO Laurence Whittaker said in response to the immediate sales surge: "I am delighted, overwhelmed and gratified by the huge level of interest and excitement the Thunder has already generated.

"Following the release of the Thunder prototype, the number of phone calls and email enquiries have been bonkers." Along with the output upgrade, the Lister Thunder also comes with fully adjustable racing dampers, massive 22-inch wheels, custom brake calipers, and a lightweight exhaust system that not only shaves 22 pounds but also provides an appropriately loud and thunder-like sound. Other bespoke upgrades include a custom-built carbon fiber front bumper featuring an extended splitter for additional downforce, an optional carbon fiber hood, and a new carbon fiber rear bumper with an enlarged design housing for those new exhaust tips.

Buyers can also choose from 36 colors for the hand-stitched, Nappa leather interior. Of course, no car will be 100 percent identical, hence the exclusiveness of bespoke work. The Lister Thunder will have its live public debut at the 2018 Historic Motorsport International at ExCel, London, on Thursday February 15th.
