No, James May isn't hurting for cash. We were just being cheeky. However, it is true that his 1984 911 Carrera with 55,000 miles is up for auction. Bonhams has the listing, with the asking price expected to fall between $44,000 and $53,000. May bought the Porsche back in 2007 when he was filming the documentary "Speed, Greed and the M25" for BBC's Radio 4. The presenter had gone to record its engine sound and liked the Porsche so much that he bought it on the spot.

May is known as Captain Slow, and as such he didn't give his 911 much of a beating. In fact it has been driven by his father for the last few years. Apparently May Sr. felt he was too old to be cruising around in an 80s icon and gave the car back to his son, who decided to sell it.
