The Audi S3 is a phenomenal machine, and when the new 2022 model arrives, it'll be better than ever. Not only will its engine put out over 300 horsepower, but it'll have some pretty sharp styling too. While we wait for that, German tuner ABT Sportsline has made some mods to the small Audi. The aftermarket firm has a long history of taking Audi's performance models to another level, and although the company specializes in extreme upgrades for some of Ingolstadt's most famous RS models, the tuner knows how to make a lesser vehicle something more too. The only issue we have with ABT is that the appearance of its cars is generally rather garish.

Fortunately, ABT hasn't stuck with its usual formula of going overboard with the styling. You get staggered wheels with 19-inch rims in front and 20 inches at the rear. These are finished in a matte black with gunmetal diamond polished accents, and besides a light smattering of badges on the exterior and interior of the car, the rest of the car looks pretty much stock. That said, we have no doubt that aftermarket lowering systems will soon be offered. Also on the way is a stainless steel exhaust system which will be available from next spring. This will be finished with four-inch tailpipes.

So yeah, the styling and noise are barely altered, but ABT has made real enhancements where it matters. While the standard S3's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger produces 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, ABT's work on the car sees its output jump to an astonishing 365 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. No claims are made regarding its performance on the road, but the stock S3's 0-62 mph time of 4.8 seconds is doubtless diminished slightly. It all looks like a great package for those who don't like to stand out too much, but we have no doubt that ABT will go all the way when the hotter RS3 drops.
