Competing with other ultra-luxury SUVs such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Land Rover Range Rover, Bentley has sold over 20,000 examples of the Bentayga, making it the brand's most popular model. Bentley gave the Bentayga a significant refresh for 2021, and we are glad to announce that it has finally entered production. Bentley says that customer deliveries are imminent.

Production has started at the company's carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, UK. This comes after a Covid-19 review that has shifted production at the factory from 50 percent to 100 percent. Bentley says that over 100 employees work on the Bentayga production line as the car passes through 43 stages of manufacture.

Peter Bosch, Member of the Board for Manufacturing at Bentley Motors feels confident in the new product: "The Bentayga is a celebration of all that we can do in Crewe and is a testament to the skill and dedication of all of our colleagues who produce cars unmatched by any other car factory in the world. To deliver a sector-defining car that meets our own and customers' high standards and expectations is a significant achievement, particularly at this early stage of production," he said.

The exterior design of the car draws inspiration from the brand's new DNA design language present on the latest lineup of cars which was introduced by the third-generation Continental GT and current Flying Spur. The exterior features a larger, more assertive matrix grille and the intelligent LED matrix headlamps include signature Bentley design inspired by cut crystal glassware. The rear track has been widened by 20 millimeters to improve the car's overall stance.

A next-generation infotainment system measuring 10.9 inches now does duty inside the cabin and features contemporary tech such as navigation with satellite maps, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Those in the rear also get a large touchscreen display. Wireless phone charger and USB C charging ports round off the tech advancements.

The Bentayga's online configurator offers interior styling choices such as Carbon Fiber, Crown Cut Walnut, and Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus inlays, as well as items such as a Breitling clock and console bottle cooler. The interior layout will also offer up to four inches more rear legroom. Four, five, and seven-seat options will be available at launch.

Power will initially be provided by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that develops 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, but Bentley plans on introducing a plug-in hybrid and W12-powered Speed version later in the year.
