BMW's M Performance division has unveiled some new cosmetic add-on features to their acclaimed lineup.
BMW's M Performance division has just released details about new accessories that are available for the 1M, M3, X5M, and the X6M. But don't get your hopes up too high, as they are mainly cosmetic upgrades. Perhaps the most noticeable addition is the new M Stripe package, which, as you've likely guessed, consists of the brand's multi-colored stripe running along the sides of the cars and extending behind the rear tire.
This extension is there to supposedly emphasize the powerful rear-wheel-drive layout. Overall, we're not thrilled with the results, but the stripe does look a bit better on the 1M than it does on the M3. If we were the ones buying a new M car, however, we'd forgo the stripe altogether. Other new accessories for the X5M and X6M include 21-inch M Performance light alloy wheels in a double-spoke design, a carbon front splitter and a front grille in black. The 1M is now available with wing mirror covers and a rear spoiler, both of which are made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
Official pricing for the add-ons weren't revealed, but if it was up to us, the sweet sound of the 1M's 3.0-liter inline-6 or M3's 4.0-liter V8 is more than good enough to convince anyone with the means to buy one.
