New BTCC Cars From Toyota And Chevy

Motorsport

Toyota rolled out their new Avensis-based cars for the British Touring Car Championship recently at Silverstone. Toyota is calling these "Next Generation Touring Cars" (NGTC), and they have been built in accordance to the rules changes in BTCC. Powering the new cars, which will both be driven by privateer teams, is a new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. It produces 300 horsepower and it should make both team serious contenders this season.

Chevy also unveiled their new BTCC/WTCC cars, which will be raced by the Silverline Chevrolet team. The cars are based on the Cruze, and have been changed completely from last season. Power now comes from a 1.6-liter turbo engine, which is both lighter and more powerful than the engine used last season. The season starts April 3rd, and we're certainly looking forward to seeing to seeing a record 27 different cars compete this season.
