Caterham has just announced a new addition to the Seven model series. Called the Seven Supersport, the new car is derived from the race version that competes in the Caterham Supersport Championship. With race track tuned influences, the street legal Supersport is powered by a four-cylinder 1.6-liter Ford Sigma engine that produces 140 hp and 120 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a five-speed manual transmission (a six-speed is optional) and weighs just 1,145 pounds.

The new edition can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 120 mph. The car's suspension featured upgraded springs and dampers taken from the race version along with stiffer anti-roll bars and a lightweight flywheel. Riding on 13-inch wheels, the car's interior features a dash with integrated change up lights, aero screen, composite race seats, and a four-point harness instead of the standard seatbelts. Like all other Caterhams, the new Supersport is available for purchase as either a factory-built model or in component form for those daring enough to construct it themselves.

Pricing for the factory car starts at £22,995 ($37,585) and £19,995 ($32,680)for the kit. Both USD figures are according to current exchange rates.
