New Exhaust For Ram 1500 TRX Adds Power And Noise

That growl is wonderful.

Until the Ford F-150 Raptor R gets here, the Ram 1500 TRX is still the quickest-accelerating truck on the market. Yes, it may soon be surpassed by electric pickups like the Hummer EV but those vehicles won't have the Ram's brawny engine note.

But if the stock TRX doesn't sound menacing enough and you really want to get into trouble with your neighbors, AWE has just revealed its 0FG catback exhaust system for the TRX. It not only makes the mighty Ram sound even better but the dual chrome silver or diamond black pipes add even more aggression to the appearance of the truck.

The system features AWE's patented drone-canceling technology and the pipes are made from T304L stainless steel. The bolt-on system requires no cutting and AWE says that customers can expect dyno-verified gains of 6 horsepower and 15 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. The standard TRX already produces 702 hp and 650 lb-ft from its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine.

"We're happy to provide yet another impressive truck with a page out of the Best Sounding Exhausts on the Planet playbook," said Jesse Kramer, AWE VP.

As the video below demonstrates, this exhaust system sounds absolutely savage.

That said, nobody wants to hear a loud boom on a cross-country trip. At a cruise of around 70 mph, the sound settles down nicely so it doesn't get annoying. Along with its perfect fitment guarantee, the system also comes with a lifetime warranty and a No CEL (Check Engine Light) guarantee. As mentioned, the five-inch double-walled slash-cut tips are available in two finishes.

Based outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, AWE's exhaust expertise is well respected in the industry. Earlier this year, the company revealed a new exhaust suite for the Jeep Wrangler which gives it a nice growl without impacting the SUV's off-roading capabilities. As for the Ram, it makes one of the craziest trucks even better.
