New High MPG Audi A1

Diesel

No batteries or plugging in needed here. Audi has just announced that they will be bring an updated diesel-powered A1 to the UK market, and that it will deliver up to 74.3mpg on the European cycle (that's 61.9mpg US, still quite a number). The A1 has a 1.6-liter TDI which makes 105 horsepower and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It will go from 0 to 62 in 10.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 118mph, decent stats for a fuel sipper.

All of the usual Audi goodies will be available for the three trim levels offered for the A1 TDI. Prices will start at £14,480 and go up to £17,865. The car should provide an excellent alternative for those who are looking to save on fuel but are unimpressed with the limited range offered by electric cars.
