High-end watches have often been associated with high-end automakers, and it seems that there's a new motoring-themed wrist accessory out almost every month. Porsche is among the most prolific in this department and has numerous Porsche Design chronographs available, but some watches are more special than others. Last year, Porsche Design presented a watch that could only be ordered by those who had paid for the latest 911 GT3. Now, Mercedes-AMG is continuing its partnership with IWC and is following Porsche's lead by releasing a wristwatch that you can only buy if you've ordered the F1-inspired AMG ONE hypercar. With just 275 examples of the hypercar set to be produced, the watch that can accompany it will be very rare.

The watch has a name as complex as the car it is based upon: IWC Big Pilot's Watch Constant Force Tourbillon Edition AMG One Owners IW590502. If you can recite that, don't. Not if you want friends. But back to the watch. This is not an altogether new creation, as the design and movement have been used in previous IWC offerings including the Big Pilot's Watch Constant Force Tourbillon Edition IWC Racing. Basically, this is the same watch as any other in the IWC Racing range, just with new materials and colors for a more exclusive feel. Speaking of new materials, the watch has titanium aluminide (TiAl) construction. This material is very difficult to work with and machine, but the trade-off is high temperature resistance and low weight.

The case of the watch features a fine ring around the edge, separating the polished and sandblasted elements of the TiAl case. The crown is made of titanium and the watch boasts a Ceratanium caseback ring. Ceratanium is essentially a titanium alloy that is bonded with ceramic for supreme scratch resistance. A black dial with luminous hands is visible too, while a dual-moon is also featured for northern and southern hemispheres. The stand-out element is naturally the tourbillon regulator with the constant-force device. A hand-wound motor that self regulates completes the watch aspect, while a two-tone rubber strap keeps it on your wrist. As for pricing, that has not yet been revealed, but some estimates expect around €250,000 (just under $270,000, or 10% of what the AMG ONE hypercar costs).
