Using Augmented Reality, this will be no ordinary reveal.
A few days ago we found out Lamborghini intends to reveal a new model tomorrow, May 7. What will it be? Well, its identity has just been announced, as will its somewhat unusual reveal method. The Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD Spyder will be unveiled via Augmented Reality at 07:00 EST on the official Lamborghini website.
First, you must head over to the company's website using an iPhone or iPad. Yes, this is for Apple products only because it requires the use of the company's AR Quick Look software. Users simply have to tap "See in AR" and you'll be able to view the latest V10-powered supercar in a number of different locations, including your own driveway, garden, or living room.
Users can also rotate and expand the size of the wheels, including on a 1:1 scale. A closer examination of the exterior and interior details is also possible, as is taking pictures. Lamborghini adds this functionality will soon be available for the rest of its lineup.
The Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD coupe (pictured above) was revealed last January, featuring a slightly detuned naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10, rated at 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Chances are output will be about the same for the Spyder (AWD variant is shown below).
A unique version of the company's Performance Traction Control System was developed specifically for the RWD variant. The RWD coupe is also 73 pounds lighter than its AWD counterpart, so expect the new RWD Spyder to weigh slightly less as well.
Those who plan to tune in tomorrow also must have an iPhone or iPad with IOS 11 and an A9 processor or later, meaning you need at least an iPhone 6, iPad Pro, iPad 5 or iPad mini 5, iPad Air 3, or iPod Touch 7. "At a time of major business challenges, Lamborghini is innovating once again and exploring new methods of communication," said CEO Stefano Domenicali.
"New technologies have accelerated fast during this time of global emergency, and Lamborghini is pioneering exciting new possibilities. Starting tomorrow, Lamborghini can be in everyone's home thanks to Apple's AR technology, which is available on hundreds of millions of AR-enabled devices around the world."
Full specs and other cool details are less than 24 hours away. Stay tuned.
