You won't find too many gearheads who have an issue with the way the stock Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and insanely quick Trackhawk sound. But last year, a tuner called AWE - based just outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - released an exhaust suite for the mega SUVs that made them sound even meaner.

AWE is at it again this year and has just shared the details of a new off-road engineered exhaust suite for the Jeep JK, JL, and JT variants. This exhaust system is designed to cater to the specific needs of off-road vehicles where retaining good ground clearance is important.

The latest exhaust suite is suitable for the previous generation Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited (3.6-liter V6), the current Wrangler lineup (2.0-liter turbo and 3.6-liter V6), and the Jeep Gladiator V6.

Notable features for the new exhaust suite include catbacks, mid-pipes, loop replacement pipes, and even a crawler configuration. The crawler-engineered Trail Edition is offered alongside a more on-road-friendly version called the Tread Edition.

While the Trail Edition focuses on the best possible departure angles and ground clearance, the Tread Edition makes use of AWE's drone-canceling technology. AWE says that this tech offers a great sound under hard acceleration but eliminates drone at highway speeds. The video below demonstrates this to perfection. AWE says that no cutting is required as these are direct, bolt-on systems.

Another benefit is a bit more power and torque, with dyno-verified increases of up to five horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. For the Wrangler Tread Edition, the double-walled tips can be finished in either diamond black or chrome, while the Gladiator Tread Edition is offered only in diamond black.

"We're live," said AWE VP, Jesse Kramer. "From three-inch systems to super-high clearance to the best sounding exhausts on the planet, we're ready to show Jeep what AWE is all about."

AWE guarantees perfect fitment and has a "no CEL (Check Engine Light) guarantee", along with a lifetime guarantee on the exhaust system.
