Back in May, we got our first look at a subtly-updated Rolls-Royce Phantom. Since then, Rolls has been very quiet about their updated luxury barge. Until now. For the first time, the newest Rolls-Royce Phantom has hit the streets. And where better to do it than Nice, France (that's pronounced "niece," not "nice," by the way). Over the next several months, Rolls says the new Phantom will make several appearances around the world.

The brand was keen on stating that will also include "its first time ever in the Americas." That will happen during Monterey Car Week at The Quail. Frankly, we couldn't think of a better place to show off the new luxury saloon. Monterey Car Week attracts some of the world's wealthiest people, who certainly fall into Rolls' target demographic.

More specifically, American audiences will be able to see the new Phantom during Car Week's "The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering," which takes place on Friday, August 19, 2022. The nineteen-year-old event has long been a place of prestige. Vehicles are displayed on the greens of the Quail Lodge & Golf Club, which will of course now include the new Phantom. But Rolls will have some serious work cut out for it if the brand is hoping to grab some eyeballs. BMW will be there, celebrating M's 50th anniversary, with Jag celebrating 70 years and its wins at Le Mans.

Back in Nice, France visitors can view several new Phantoms at the Maybourne Riviera hotel, which will be the temporary home of a few very special Phantoms. To make the introduction of the new Series II Phantom, Rolls has built a handful of new Bespoke (think Porsche Sonderwunsch) Phantoms.

That includes the Phantom Platino. It's named for the car's silver-white finish, mimicking platinum, with a unique leather and cloth interior meant to echo the earliest Rolls models. Also on display will be The Great British Phantom, featuring a Magma Red exterior and Bespoke artwork inspired by the Union Flag. Finally, Rolls debuted some new wheels that customers can fit to their Phantoms. If you ask us, they're the only ones to fit, and feature a retro disc shape, available in both polished steel (seen here) and in black lacquer.

It makes sense Nice would be the first stop on the Phantom world tour, with Henry Royce having built a villa, La Mimose, in Le Canadel. Royce spent every winter there until his death in 1933. That said, we look forward to seeing more Bespoke Phantom models. With any luck, Rolls will show off more special models at each location.
