Taking your tail-happy supercar out for a spin in winter months isn't a wise idea unless you want to smack your expensive exotic into the nearest wall. In snowy conditions, the sensiblemove is to leave it in the garage and use something with all-wheel drive like an SUV. McLaren, however, wants you to enjoy its supercars all-year round, which is why the British automaker has teamed up with Pirelli to create a bespoke winter wheel and tire package that turns the McLaren Sports Series into a winter warrior.

The set consists of four 14 spoke lightweight forged wheels in stealth finish fitted with Pirelli MC Sottozero 3 winter tires that incorporate McLaren's tire pressure monitoring system. It was designed specifically for McLaren's Sports Series family, which includes the 540C, 570S, 570GT and the new 570S Spider, and comes fully assembled and ready to fit so you can swap to winter tires easily. "Choosing the right type of tire to suit seasonal weather and road conditions should be a priority for every McLaren driver wanting to enjoy their car safely all-year round," said Carl Whipp, Aftersales Director at McLaren Automotive.

"Regardless of whether winter tires are a legal requirement, having them ready and waiting on a second set of wheels will allow customers to switch to the optimum tire choice quickly and easily when winter arrives – which is why we have teamed up with our tire partner, Pirelli, to offer the McLaren Winter Wheels and Tires set exclusively through McLaren Retailers." The tread pattern on the tires features a high drainage level that reduces the chances of hydroplaning, while providing maximum possible grip. They are effective on wet and dry roads when temperatures drop below 44 degrees Fahrenheit. Braking performance in poor road and weather conditions is also improved by fitting the winter tires.

According to McLaren, cold-weather stopping distance is reduced by 10 percent in wet conditions and up to 20 percent on snowy roads.
