The cherry on top of the bizarre, challenging, seemingly cursed confection that is 2020 isn't a horde of locusts or a Category 5 hurricane. It's a dating app.

This isn't just any dating app, however; it's aimed squarely at Tesla owners. Because let's face it; being single as a Tesla fan has never been easy. Nine out of ten times, the person you're matched with doesn't care nearly as much as you do about all your Model S EV's nifty features - its semi-autonomous Autopilot system, in-car video games, James Bond submarine Easter Egg, and all the rest. The only person who could ever possibly care as much about Tesla as you is another Tesla fan.

So, rather than making you roll the dice on countless Honda Civic drivers or basic plebes with gas-guzzling SUVs, this new dating app takes the guesswork out, narrowing your dating pool to fellow Tesla owners. We have a feeling "Elon" is going to be a very popular name for newborn babies for the next few years.

The app is called "Tesla Dating", and it's the brainchild of Canadian entrepreneur Ajitpal Grewal. Grewal told Business Insider he came up with the idea for the app after noticing that, generally speaking, Tesla fans only ever want to talk about Tesla.

Tesla is "a big part of their identity, and they [share] a lot of the same values, like wanting to reduce their impact on the environment, [obsessing over] Elon Musk, or appreciating high tech," Grewal says. "Suddenly it hit me, these people would be perfect for each other."

"Perfect" is one word for it. We can't help but worry that Ajitpal Grewal might be unwittingly paving the way for an onslaught of insufferable, Tesla-obsessed nightmare couples.

The app is in the early developmental stages, although its website, tesladating.co, saw some 160 people sign up for an early-access waitlist within a single day of its going live. Users will have to prove that they indeed own a Tesla vehicle, and potential matches will be sorted based on what users have similar models and configurations.

Because if there's one thing that can reliably determine whether or not a couple is compatible, it's whether or not they both own a Tesla Model 3 Long Range.
