Just in time for the iconic off-roader's 70th anniversary this year, all-new 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser has finally arrived with new powertrains replacing the V8 and improved off-roading capability. Unfortunately, it won't be going on sale in the US. If it does eventually arrive in America, it will likely be badged as a Lexus. In the Middle East, however, sales for the new Land Cruiser have already kicked off. To celebrate, Al-Futtaim Toyota, Toyota's distributor in the UAE, hosted a special event handling over the first 50 Land Cruisers to new customers.

One of these customers just happened to be the Dubai police force, which took delivery of several Land Cruisers police SUVs at the event.

Dubai's Toyota Land Cruiser police SUVs were presented in white/green, white/blue, and yellow/blue police liveries. Fitted with blue flashing lights, the hulking Land Cruiser looks intimidating as a police SUV - you won't think twice about pulling over if you see one on your tail.

Dubai's police force is of course famous for its exotic police cars that patrol the streets including a Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R, and Bugatti Veyron. More recently, a luxury 2021 Genesis GV80 joined Dubai's police fleet, but the new Land Cruiser will be the toughest SUV on the force.

It isn't known which engine option Dubai's police force opted for. Under the hood, the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered with either a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine generating 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque or a 3.3-liter diesel rated at 304 hp with 516 lb-ft of torque. In either configuration, power is sent to all four wheels through a new ten-speed automatic transmission. We suspect Dubai's police force specced it with the more powerful V6.

Should it need to chase criminals off-road, the Land Cruiser police SUV is more than capable of tackling challenging terrain thanks to its improved ground clearance, better wheel articulation, and a new adaptive suspension system.
