Although it'll be lighter than the current XF, a supercharged V8 will still be offered.
A good chunk of news and rumors coming from Jaguar lately involve its upcoming BMW 3 Series rival and a new crossover. However, if you look a bit closer at Jag’s current model lineup, you’ll notice that the XF sedan is nearly six years old. Despite numerous updates and improvements, the XF is becoming ancient compared to its main competition. But that’s all going to change sometime in 2016 when the all-new XF has its debut.
Seen here for the first time in a new set of spy shots, the new XF will be built on the same aluminum modular platform as the 3 Series rival. It’ll be around the same size as the current car, but will weigh considerably less, improving both handling and fuel economy. Jaguar will offer a range of gasoline and diesel four-cylinder and V6 engines. But don’t worry, a supercharged V8 will still be offered. All-wheel drive will also be offered but rear-wheel-drive will remain standard. We should see the XF appear in concept form sometime in 2015.
