In the internet age, leaks of new car models are extremely common. This isn't your typical leak, however. A member of the Acurazine forum has managed to obtain photos stored in the Acura RDX's infotainment system software that allegedly show the exteriors and interiors of the new next-generation Acura MDX and TLX before their official reveals.

"I was digging around images in the com.android.systemui package located on the RDX, loaded it into android developer toolkit, and low and behold, they have had images of the unreleased 2020 MDX on our RDX this whole time," the user wrote.

Compared to the current model, the new MDX shown in the render features a new front fascia with a revised bumper, new air intakes and slimmer headlights.

The new TLX, on the other hand, has a more radical redesign, adopting an aggressive-looking front, a sloping roofline, and a longer, muscular-looking profile. We could see it previewed at Pebble Beach next month, as Acura has confirmed it will be revealing a new production-ready concept sedan inspired by the Precision Concept. Renderings of the sedan's cabin were also uncovered showing ambient lighting options and power-adjustable headrests, as well as driving modes including Comfort, Lift, Normal, Personal, Slippery, Sport+, Snow, and Sport.

Mechanical details remain unknown at this stage. The current MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6 that sends 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque to either the front or all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid version combines a 3.0-liter V6 with three electric motors to produce 321 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Acura TLX, on the other hand, is available with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 206 horsepower and a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 hp. Front-wheel drive is offered as standard, but the V6 version can be equipped with all-wheel drive. Acurazine believes the new MDX will launch next year as a 2021 model, while the next-generation TLX will likely follow after.
