We have published many spy shots of the next-generation BMW X3 undergoing testing, but our spy photographers have finally grabbed a glimpse of the interior. In these new images, we can see what the cabin of the 2025 BMW X3 will mostly look like, though there are plenty of surfaces that are covered. It's clear that the X3 will get a newer infotainment system, likely the iDrive 8.5 system that's set to debut in the 5 Series.

This system will offer improvements over the current iDrive 8, but BMW will save iDrive 9 for smaller models, specifically from the Mini brand. iDrive 9 will switch to an Android-based operating system rather than the current Linux setup. Since the next-gen X3 still at least a year away, it's unclear which iDrive version it will arrive with.

Elsewhere in the interior, the X3 gets similar changes that we've seen on facelifted models like the X7. These include a smaller shift knob and an updated steering wheel design.

Though it's slightly obscured by a covering, we can clearly spot the familiar iDrive rotating knob controller. This means the X3 won't rely solely on touch controls like the smaller X1. As for the rest of the cabin, it looks like a familiar BMW.

We know the next-gen X3 will offer various gasoline versions, including a high-performance X3 M, and it will also bring back the hybrid option that was discontinued in the US market. The last X3 plug-in hybrid used a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor to produce 288 horsepower. It could only travel 17 miles on electric power, but this new one is expected to travel around 60 miles on a single charge.

As of now, it's unclear if BMW will sell an all-electric model in the US since the current iX3 was not developed for a North American audience.
