It's been rumored for some time and now we can finally confirm that the first Nissan GT-R Nismo prototype has begun testing. The news comes to us from Autocar which, speaking with Nissan exec Andy Palmer, not only clarified the existence of the prototype but also that the GT-R Nismo will be "the fastest GT-R ever." No other technical details were given but Palmer did reveal that "the majority of the exterior changes are aero and downforce related."

The production car record at the Nurburgring is the gold standard," said Palmer, "and we expect to lower that." We'll hopefully be seeing spy shots shortly of that prototype out testing at the Ring in the coming months as Nissan plans to reveal the finished product at the Tokyo Motor Show in November. For now, we'll have to sit back and be patient but we can be reassured that "this will be the ultimate GT-R to come out of the factory."
