Nissan's pure EV Leaf has been a success so far, but with an upcoming competitor from Tesla on the horizon, the Japanese automaker has reason to worry. And let's face it: the Leaf is not a good-looking car, unless you have a thing for golf carts with flashy wheels. So to help with this issue, Nissan's performance arm Nismo has just introduced its Leaf Performance Package. Now, this Nismo Leaf is by no means a performance machine. It simply boasts some cosmetic enhancements that'll make it look less, well, dorky.

Buyers can opt for a set of lightweight aluminum wheels that'll cost roughly $450 a pop, a rear spoiler, an aero package that includes front and rear bumpers and side skirts, and a sports suspension kit that lowers ride height by 30 mm. Last up is a feature that improves the car's driving characteristics via the control module. Thing is, the Nismo Leaf is only available in Japan for now and it's not cheap. Aside from those pricey wheels, the sport suspension costs roughly $1,100 and the complete aero trimmings add up to nearly $5,500 for fiberglass parts or $7,700 for carbon fiber.
