The New York International Auto Show is now in full swing and while most stands are filled with the latest and greatest models from the various manufacturers, Nissan has decided to entrust one of its longest-running models to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous Z nameplate.

It has been half a century since the introduction of the iconic Datsun 240Z and the current sixth-generation 370Z has a special 50th Anniversary Edition for the 2020 model year.

The 370Z may be going into its second decade but its lusty 3.7-liter 332 horsepower V6, rear-wheel-drive layout and manual gearbox continue to offer the kind of timeless old-school driving experience that was once the norm in this segment.

The 50th Anniversary model does not mess with this aspect of the formula and instead offers some unique liveries and interior trim options over the standard car to celebrate this milestone in Nissan's history.

The cars will be based on the Sport trim models and finished either in white paintwork with red accents or silver with black accents, and anniversary badging on the front and rear. Nineteen-inch wheels complete the exterior changes.

The example at the Nissan display is finished in the silver on black option and looks far better than any sports car first introduced in 2009 has any right to be. The interior gets an Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, dark chrome detailing and a healthy dose of 50th Anniversary badging and embroidery throughout the cabin.
