In a bid to generate more awareness of the Nismo performance brand, Nissan is currently working on new 'RS' option packages. Speaking with Inside Line, Andy Palmer, executive vice president and head of Global Product Planning said: "There will be Nismo packages for the suspension and the Nismo RS packages that will include engine tunes." An expanded line of Nismo products are being developed and the addition of RS packages will help to promote Nismo to a wider audience.

Nismo is derived from Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd., the Japanese automaker's racing division. Given its level of racing success, Palmer believes Nismo isn't as well-known as it should be. "Nismo won every class it competed in for the 2011 season," Palmer said. The Juke Nismo, unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show last year, gave people a chance to see what Nissan has in store for its in-house tuners, while the next-gen Z car that's currently in development is expected to be the first car to sport the new RS packages.
